{"id":608686,"date":"2019-04-19T04:26:56","date_gmt":"2019-04-19T04:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"<br><div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">General News of Thursday, 18 April 2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>ghananewsagency.org<\/p>\n2019-04-18\n\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghana-mma.com\/2019\/04\/3"},"modified":"2019-04-19T04:26:56","modified_gmt":"2019-04-19T04:26:56","slug":"bni-keeping-gh%c2%a26-5-million-belonging-to-nss-executive-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/04\/19\/bni-keeping-gh%c2%a26-5-million-belonging-to-nss-executive-director\/","title":{"rendered":"BNI keeping GH\u00a26.5 million belonging to NSS &#8211; Executive Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">General News of Thursday, 18 April 2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>ghananewsagency.org<\/p>\n<p>2019-04-18<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanamma.com\/2019\/04\/38679340.295.jpg\" alt=\"NSS BOSS MUSTAPHA YUSIF\" title=\"NSS BOSS MUSTAPHA YUSIF\" width=\"295\" height=\"225\" \/><span class=\"play-icon\">play video<\/span><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, Mustapha Ussif<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\">Mr Mustapha Ussif, Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS) has revealed that the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) is still keeping an amount of GH \u00a26.5 million belonging to the scheme as an exhibit in a case.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the BNI in their operation to collect money allegedly taken from service personnel allowances account created the BNI Director\u2019s account to deposit the money in.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ussif made the disclosure when he appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to respond to queries of the 2016 Auditor General Report.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ussif\u2019s response followed a question by Mr Sam George, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Pampram why the GH \u00a26.5 million should be put in BNI Director\u2019s account.            <\/p>\n<p>Mr Ussif\u2019s also explained that when the scheme was hit by the ghost names scandal the investigation body that was assigned by government to investigate the matter was the BNI.<\/p>\n<p>He said the BNI in their operation then decided to create a special account to collect money allegedly taken from service personnel allowance account by the district officers, regional officers and national officers of the NSS who were implicated in the scandal.<\/p>\n<p>He said when he assumed office and went through his handing over notes and the Auditor General\u2019s Report he officially wrote to the then BNI Director and also requested to meet to discuss how those monies could be refunded to the NSS.<\/p>\n<p>He said the BNI in their response stated that because the case was still pending in court and they were using the money as an exhibit, until the case was concluded they would not release it back to the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mr Sam George who was not satisfied with the answer from the NSS Boss asked Mr James Klutse Avedze, Chairman of PAC to give his ruling on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not see how the GH \u00a26.5 million sitting in the BNI\u2019s account and not being sent back to chest as evidence.
