The rice, however, found its way into Abidjan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe receive a lot of alerts. Normally the security agencies check these things and inform us,\u201d an officer at the FDA who wants to remain anonymous told Citi Business News in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Ghana\u2019s Ministry of Agriculture had earlier assured that plans are in place to reduce the importation of rice by at least 50 percent this year.<\/p>\n<p>This the ministry says is to enhance the growth and consumption of local rice in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Ghana imports 331 million dollars of rice annually, development stakeholders had described as worrying.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Minister of Agriculture, George Oduro has already assured that measures such as the \u2018planting for food and jobs\u2019 as well as the newly introduced Irrigation land facility system should help reduce the importation of rice by half.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ctx-article-root\"\/>  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Citi Business News\u2019 checks at the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has revealed that the Authority received an alert on some substandard rice that was being imported into the Ghanaian market from Myanmar.
