{"id":608295,"date":"2019-04-17T19:43:44","date_gmt":"2019-04-17T19:43:44","guid":{"rendered":"<br><div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">Business News of Wednesday, 17 April 2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>classfmonline.com<\/p>\n2019-04-17\n\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghana-mma.com\/2019\/04\/7"},"modified":"2019-04-17T19:43:44","modified_gmt":"2019-04-17T19:43:44","slug":"q4-2018-gdp-dips-as-oil-production-falls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/04\/17\/q4-2018-gdp-dips-as-oil-production-falls\/","title":{"rendered":"Q4 2018 GDP dips as oil production falls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">Business News of Wednesday, 17 April 2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>classfmonline.com<\/p>\n<p>2019-04-17<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ghanamma.com\/2019\/04\/73043843.295.jpg\" alt=\"Cedi Notes 610x330sep2017\" title=\"Cedi Notes 610x330sep2017\" width=\"295\" height=\"160\" \/><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>GDP for the fourth quarter of 2018 was 6.8 per cent, representing a dip in the previous quarter<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\">Ghana\u2019s growth fell in 2018 as the country\u2019s oil and gas volumes dropped in the last quarter of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>2.9 million barrels of oil were shipped within that period, a little below the 3 million barrels of oil shipped in the previous quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Real GDP for the fourth quarter of 2018 was 6.8 per cent, representing a dip in the previous quarter\u2019s 7.4 per cent of the same year.<\/p>\n<p>Government Statistician, Prof Samuel Kobina Annim, told journalists at a press conference on Wednesday, 17 April 2019 that the 6.8 per cent was an increase from the 5.5 per cent year-on-year GDP recorded in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe industry sector recorded the highest growth of 8.9 per cent; Services was 5.8 per cent and Agriculture was 4.4 per cent,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Having achieved inflation below the government\u2019s upper-limit target of 10 per cent in the past months, the Bank of Ghana found it prudent to roll out an expansionary monetary policy by cutting interest rates to 16 per cent in January.
