If the agenda is to intimidate us, they are joking,\u201d he stated during a panel discussion on Peace FM&#8217;s morning show \u2018Kokrokoo\u2019, Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Fred Agbenyo was speaking to the issues surrounding the leaked tape containing the alleged voice of his National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ampofo appeared in court on Tuesday after three charges were leveled against him.<\/p>\n<p>The Attorney General&#8217;s Department have revealed that four fresh charges have been preferred against the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo and Deputy National Communications Officer, Kwaku Boahen.<\/p>\n<p>The two are facing four charges, three for the National Chairman and one for Kweku Boahen.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the court has adjourned the case to May 6, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Fred Agbenyo, however, does not understand why his Chairman is being persecuted when he has done nothing wrong.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am surprised because there have been several tapes where those involved claim it had been doctored; but never has it been sent to court. I don\u2019t know what is motivating this action. We are not saying there should be no justice or people should go free after committing a crime, but if their intention is to create fear and panic . . . NDC is a very law-abiding party and we want to give the assurance that we cannot be intimidated by any of these actions . . .\u201d he indicated.<\/p>\n<p><b>Background<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A leaked audio purported to be the voice of Mr Ofosu-Ampofo in a meeting with NDC communicators had him saying: \u201cWe\u2019re going to take her [Chairperson of the Electoral Commission] to the cleaners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs for the EC Chair, we must wage a relentless war on this EC Chair. Me, she doesn\u2019t want to see my face,\u201d Mr Ofosu-Ampofo is alleged to have said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the first time, I\u2019ll endorse insulting the National Peace Council Chair,\u201d another part of the audio said.<\/p>\n<p>However, the National Chairman has categorically denied the content of the tape.
