My expectation going into the meeting was that the meeting was going to deal with the scope of the discussion i.e, what type of vigilantism are we talking about, and what can we discuss as part of the national dialogue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy second expectation was that we can talk about the level of participation \u2014 who are those qualified and based on what criteria would that person participate \u2014 this was our understanding of the purpose of this meeting. But unfortunately, when we went, we could neither agree on the scope completely nor the level of participation by other stakeholders,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>The outcome of Tuesday\u2019s meeting was that the two major political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) would emphasize the need to stop the activities of political vigilante groups in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP and the NDC among other things also agreed to stop the ownership, hiring and the utilization of vigilante and militia groups by political members.<\/p>\n<p>The chairman of the meeting, Prof. Emmanuel Asante told the media that: \u201cAfter an open and exhaustive deliberation, the parties agreed that vigilantism is inimical to Ghana\u2019s system and must be eradicated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSignificantly, both parties agreed to engage in deliberations aimed at: 1. Disbanding vigilante groups operating within political parties or for political purposes. 2.
