The loss of a loved one or family member comes with a rush of overwhelming sadness and even worse is the day of final interment.<\/p>\n

Death and funeral rites represent the last rite of passage of the human race and various cultures have their own unique way of celebrating them.<\/p>\n

Reflecting in a somber atmosphere is what some prefer, others however would prefer \u2018loudness\u2019 and \u2018recklessness\u2019 as a way to get over their pain.<\/p>\n

Screeching of cars, loud music and the \u2018wild\u2019 display of emotions by mourners coming in for their \u2018corpses\u2019 is a peculiar sight for residents of South La whose homes are just meters away from the hospital.<\/p>\n

It almost appears as though they want to \u2018go along to the graves\u2019 with their deceased persons.<\/p>\n

In this edition of \u2018People and Places\u2019, our cameras focus on the unusual \u2018rites\u2019 people perform while escorting their dead. Focus also will be placed on the hospital morgue situated close to homes in the area and the \u2018smoking culture\u2019 residents have to endure from the hospital\u2019s morgue.<\/p>\n
