Former Deputy Energy Minister, John Jinapor, says the recurring energy sector challenges clearly show that the Mahama administration was more efficient in managing the sector than the current administration.<\/p>\n

Some parts of the country have been experiencing intermittent power outages in the last few weeks, sparking concerns of a possible return to the days of the rationed power supply, popularly referred to as dumsor.<\/p>\n

The government has assured that it is working around the clock to fix the problem within the next few days.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a public lecture organized by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to respond to the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia\u2019s claims at Wednesday\u2019s town hall meeting, Mr. Jinapor said available data shows that the current administration is overwhelmed by the challenges in the power sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe even had a Gas master plan. We were doing a feasibility study until they took over. They suspended the programme and said they were investigating us. It took them two years and they delayed the project.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are sleeping on the job. You are snoring on the job. You failed to pursue President Mahama\u2019s programmes and today when you are supposed to pay $32 million every month because of inertia and incompetence, you turn around and blame former President Mahama.\u201d<\/p>\n

He noted that the Mahama government did a lot for Ghana\u2019s generation capacity by bringing in the 250MW AMERI power plant, 50MW Trojan power plant, 200MW Kpone Thermal Power Project, 360MW Asogli project, 20MW BXC solar project and Karpower plant.<\/p>\n

He added that to ensure fuel supply, the Mahama government invested in Atuabo gas processing plant and three FPSO Kwame Nkrumah, John Agyekum Kufuor and John Atta Mills.<\/p>\n
