AngloGold Ashanti (Iduapriem) Limited has\u00a0reached an agreement with relevant stakeholders in host communities\u00a0for a 13% upward adjustment in compensation\u00a0rate.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is to determine compensation\u00a0for\u00a0farmers\u00a0whose crops may be affected by the Mine\u2019s operations\u00a0in\u00a02019.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At a crop compensation review meeting\u00a0organised by the Mine, all parties\u00a0expressed satisfaction\u00a0with the new rate and pledged to do their part to ensure compliance so that the goodwill and mutually beneficial relationship existing between stakeholders and the Mine would be sustained.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said the Mine\u00a0would not relent in <\/span>efforts towards<\/span><\/span>\u00a0creating a sustainable future of shared value for\u00a0the benefit of all stakeholders.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chief of\u00a0Esuaso, Nana\u00a0Kwasi\u00a0Atobrah\u00a0II,\u00a0who\u00a0was elected chairman of the committee and facilitated\u00a0the negotiation process, was grateful to all parties for demonstrating good faith in reaching agreement on the new rate. <\/span><\/p>\n

He charged\u00a0all parties to abide by the terms of <\/span>agreement<\/span><\/span> to\u00a0maintain the peace and harmony between the Mine and the farmers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nana\u00a0Atobrah, who is also the\u00a0current Best\u00a0Farmer\u00a0for Tarkwa Nsuaem,\u00a0commended the Mine for the effective collaboration with the farmers, especially in making the farmers have a say in\u00a0the\u00a0setting of crop rate. <\/span><\/p>\n

He also\u00a0called on\u00a0farmers to make good use of the opportunity offered by the Mine to improve on their livelihoods.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This exercise is undertaken annually as part of implementing the company\u2019s Land Access Standard Operating Procedure (LASOP) and\u00a0in line with\u00a0the Compensation and Resettlement Regulation 2012 (LI 2175).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0members of the committee\u00a0were drawn\u00a0from Tarkwa Nsuaem\u00a0and Prestea \u2013 Huni Valley\u00a0Municipal Assemblies, Land Valuation\u00a0Division, and\u00a0Food and Agriculture Ministry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Others included the Commission on Human Right and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) Municipal Office,\u00a0Apinto\u00a0and\u00a0Esuaso\u00a0Traditional Councils, Stool Land Secretariat,\u00a0and\u00a0host community chiefs<\/span>, Assemblymen<\/span><\/span>, farmers, women\u2019s groups, among other stakeholders.<\/span><\/p>\n
