President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday held a media encounter at the Jubilee House to speak about the performance of his government in areas of economy, governance, health, education, security among others, and what he is doing to turn around the fortunes of the country.
During the engagement, the president said he disagrees with policy think tank IMANI Africa’s recent score of 48 per cent as far as the delivery of his campaign promises are concerned.
“I disagree with the 48 per cent assessment. We are working with a figure of 72 per cent. So, we have a fundamental disagreement on the figure. Our figure, our assessment is the accurate one,” he noted.
The president touching on the Free Senior High School programme implementation jabbed critics of the flagship policy who have made conscious efforts to give statistics he deemed erroneous about the progress of implementation of the policy.
According to him, unlike his critics, he has not been sitting in Accra to give statistics about the state of infrastructural development in schools nationwide.
He revealed that his biggest regret as president in 2019 is over the four girls who were kidnapped and subsequently killed in Takoradi in the Western Region.
“My biggest regret from the beginning of this year is the kidnapping and killing of the four girls in Takoradi. It is a matter of great regret this year, having to deal with the issue of the missing Takoradi girls,” said the president.
The encounter also afforded journalists the opportunity to ask the president questions about governance so far.
