The problem of infrastructure deficit which has plagued Senior High Schools over the year and it is not only prevalent in schools in deprived communities but is also very present in cities including the capital city.

One would expect that schools in Kumasi would be much better off when it comes to infrastructure but that is not so for the Simms Senior High Senior High School in Kumasi Fawoade in the kwabre East District of the Ashanti region.

A visit to the school reveals that, students in the school have been left struggling because of a severe lack of infrastructure. The school’s infrastructure is overstretched and students are forced to study without proper school desks. While a few lucky ones have tables, many of the students put their books on their thighs to write.

“The nails in our desk have been tearing our uniforms frequently. We sit on the few desk ‘three three’ because we have only few desks and that one too the nails are over the desks so it been tearing our uniform “. A student stated.

This came to light when Dr. Owusu of Legon who happens to be an old student,in collaboration with Benjamin Owusu a sports journalist working with Atinka Media Village plus other old students donated GH¢2500 to SUPPORT the course and advice the final year students on what to do after school .

He therefore calls on all past students and love ones with good heart to come to their aid to purchase 500 students desk for Simms SHS to help improve teaching and learning.

To help this course please contacts Benjamin Owusu on 0554944755.
