GJA to honour five distinguished personalities in Upper East

Bolgatanga, Dec. 11,
GNA – The Upper East Region branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA)
will on Saturday honour five distinguished personalities for their outstanding
contributions to the development of the region.

The personalities
include Reverend Eastwood Anaba, President of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries,
Professor Dr David Millar, President of the Millar Institute for
Transdisciplinary and Development Studies.

The rest are Mr
Kenneth Anewena the Director of Lesken Enterprise, Dr William Gudu, the Medical
Superintendent of the Bongo District Hospital and Madam Melanie Kasise, a
retired Educationist and Founder of the Sirugu Women’s Organization for Pottery
and Art (SWOPA).

The personalities
had distinguished themselves and placed the region on a high pedestal in areas
of health, religion, education, business and arts.

The Association
would honour them at its maiden awards programme to reward Journalists in the
Region for work done in 2018, as part of activities to climax the 70th
Anniversary celebrations.

The awards programme
which comes off on December 14, will award Journalists in the following
categories; most Promising Journalist, Health, Child Rights Reporting, Human
Rights, Gender, and Disability.

The rest are
Business and Financial Reporting, Agriculture, Environment and Sanitation,
Investigation, Domestic Tourism, Sports, Best Radio Station, and Best Social
Programme on Radio.

Mr Eric Kwadjo Amoh,
the Upper East Regional Chairman of the GJA, said the Awards Committee in
consultation with the National President of the Association observed with
extreme satisfaction the contributions and impact the selected personalities
have contributed to the development of the region.

He said the
determination and exemplary leadership of the five personalities have convinced
the leadership of the Association to recognise them.
