After his alleged assault and being prevented from extending pleasantries with former President John Mahama by some members of a pro-NDC militia group, the Hawks, the pastor at the center of the whole event, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah has come out to clarify what really happened.

According to him, it was the Assemblies of God pastor who whispered to him that the former President had requested to exchange pleasantries with him.

“The Assemblies of God pastor told me that he wants me to greet Mahama and Mahama himself had requested I come to greet him,” the pastor said.

“You see the foolish people we have in this country called Ghana… some Ghanaians are stupid and fools, they don’t think when they sleep,” the man of God added, in his sermon to his congregation on Sunday.

He explained that if he had passed by without even waving at the former President, these same Ghanaians will tell me I did not respect the former President John Dramani Mahama and I am too-known.”

The controversial man of God indicated that his prophecy about an ex-president doing all that he could to eliminate some notable people just because of his re-election did not come because he was prevented by some loyalist of John Mahama to exchange pleasantries with him.

“I was able to prophesy when he [Mahama] was president…I was able to say that he has soiled his hands with blood during the time he was president and not now that he is an ex that I should be afraid of him,” Rev Owusu Bempah emphasized.

Background

There was a little scuffle between the entourage of the former President John Mahama and Rev. Owusu Bempah at the South Odorkor Assemblies of God Church when the later was approaching the former President to exchange pleasantries with him.

After about five minutes of disruption, calm was restored and the man of God had the chance to shake hands with the former president.

Amongst the dignitaries present were Sammi Awuku, National Organizer of the NPP; Hon. Joe Appiah, former MP for Ablekuma North, Rev. Dr Sam Ato Bentil, the General Treasurer of the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana, as well as the Regional Superintendent and district pastors of the Assemblies of God Church in the Greater Accra Region.

Mahama was at the church with the constituency executive of Ablekuma North and the Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
