By Julius K. Satsi, GNA

Accra, Dec. 06, GNA – The second edition of
the Ghana Tech Summit, an initiative of the Global Start-up Ecosystems (GSE)
scheduled to hold from December 13 to 14 will see more than 100 top-notch
technology speakers.

The Summit to be hosted at the YMCA, Castle
Road in Accra will bring together hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors,
government, stakeholders and industry experts under one roof to address
humanity’s greatest challenges through technology and entrepreneurship.

Speaking at a media briefing to launch the
Summit, Ms Christine Ntim, who is the Host of the Summit said the organisers
were partnering the YMCA for the second edition to solve the huge unemployment
situation in Ghana.

She said the Summit, which is a 12-year
initiative of the GSE, would be held on the theme: “Sankofa- ‘Go ban and get
it’; Redefining the Future of Africa”.

She said the location at Castle Road in
Accra would make it more accessible to young people and to help focus on the
youth in the country.

Ms Ntim said the Summit was initially held
last year with 100 speakers and 1,000 attendees featuring pioneers from leading
companies such as Google, Facebook, Uber, Twitter, IBM, and Microsoft.

She said the 2019 programme would welcome
3,000 guests, 100 speakers and 88 partners in the two-day duration of the
summit.

Ms Ntim said the entire executive team of
Forbes Magazine and Forbes8 would be at the second edition including; Tom
Davis, the Chief Growth Officer of Forbes; Liz Walsh, the Vice President of
Marketing at Forbes Magazines among many others.

She said Ghana is a place, where there is a
lot of activities, when it comes to tech, business, and investment adding that
the Ghana Tech Summit would continue to hold till 2030.

She said it had become necessary for Ghana
and Africa to prove to the world that the continent was not filled with
political instability, corruption and all the negatives, but also had the
potentials that could change its people.

Mr Kwabena Nketia Addae, the Ghana YMCA
National Secretary urged young people to take advantage of the Summit and tap
the benefits there as influential global entrepreneurs would be present.

He said the initiative was an opportunity
for the young ones who are innovative, but were struggling to have access to
international market and finance to scale up their start-ups.

Mr Addae said the event promises to bring
investors with funds to invest in innovative ideas emerging from young people
on the continent.
