Josephine Hilda AddoJosephine Hilda Addo

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso as hit the ground running with her massive campaign to unseat the incumbent Member of Parliament, Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah

This comes as a shock as it was believed she had planned with Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah to unseat the the Member of Parliament for Dr Akoto in the 2015 NPP parliamentary election.

The historical antecedents to this was as a results of a long bad blood that had existed between her and the immediate past MP Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto.

The duo had contested each other since the creation of the constituency in 2004. In 2004 Hon Hilda Addo won the election beating Hon Dr Akoto with a slight margin. In 2008 Hon Dr Akoto beat Hon Hilda Addo to become the MP for the constituency.

The defeat of Hon Hilda Addo by Hon Dr Akoto was again repeated in 2012. So in 2016 when the likes of Dr Dwamena, Dr Nyarko, and Dr Nuamah emerged in the race many had thought that could quench the heat, anger and hatred that had existed.

After Dr Nuamah emerged as the victor in the Parliamentary primary election which was dubbed the battle of the doctors, Hon Hilda Addo jubilated and created the impression that she didn’t come to win but to see the end of Dr Akoto. Hon Hilda Addo came second, but the euphoria surrounding her jubilation beat the imagination of many as someone who couldn’t win could go all out and jubilate Many had then believed that she had indeed had a plan with the victor to unseat Dr Akoto.

Her emergence into the political scene again after many failed attempts has risen some eye brows. Because if her key focus was to see Dr Akoto exited, why is she trooping the electoral areas of Kwadaso denigrating the President and the MP , as she always does, this time, as Dr Akoto from all indications, from the grapevine’ would not be contesting.

It is now clear that apart from her inherent hatred of the president and anything associated with him, she also believe that becoming an MP and creating a powerhouse to frustrate the president would give her a political capital to be relevant in the next NPP government.
