Ghana U23 manager Ibrahim Tanko is satisfied with his side’s 1-1 stalemate with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the second Group B game of the U23 AFCON.

A blistering free-kick from Frank Evina on the 59th minute gave Cameroon the lead back Ghana rallied behind to grab the equalizer through Habib Mohammed.

The soft-spoken Tanko who admits his side is yet to take shape felt his side had a fair result considering the qualities of Cameroon.

“In a tournament like this first games are always very difficult to play. The 1- 1 is a fair result for both teams.

“Our players who played in the qualifiers are not here. These are all starters for us, but we managed to have a team that can qualify us from the group, and to the Olympics” – Ibrahim Tanko told the press at the post-match conference.

Coach Tanko admitted his side struggled to play in the first half of the game, allowing their opponent to control the game.

“The first 25 minutes was not good, we allowed them to play, some of our players were very nervous, but we came in very strong in the second half.”

“Our game against Egypt will not be easy, but we are going to try our best to win, so we stay in the tournament”

Ghana’s next game is against host nation Egypt and the winner of that game is likely to make the next round of the competition.
