Newly crowned International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa welterweight champion, Dodzi Kemeh, believes he is on the right path to achieving a world title by 2021.

Kemeh, who defeated Frank Dodzi with a fifth round knockout to clinch the IBF continental crown, said his focus was to make a successful title defence early next year before deciding on his next line of action.

“I am on the right path towards achieving my aim of becoming a world champion,” the 28-year-old pugilist told the Graphic Sports.

“The main aim now is to concentrate on making a successful defence of my title in the next four months and that is what I’m looking forward to,” he added.

Kemeh is undefeated in his previous five bouts in which he won by knockouts against Sani Yidana Kugblie, Francis Appalo, Francis Mensah, Ben Ankrah and Dodzi.

Having won his second fight of the year, Kemeh hopes to make his ring return as soon as possible as he prepares towards announcing himself on the world stage.

Kemeh also stated that he was open to facing any opponent in his division should the opportunity avail itself as he aimed to make a name for himself in the division.

“I am ready to fight any opponent in the division because that is the only way to get to the top, which is obviously what I’m looking forward to,” he noted.
