Ghana Football Association Presidential candidate George Ankoma Mensah is proposing to construct 12 pitches in two years for the betterment of Ghana football should delegates give him the nod to lead the association.

According to the experienced lawyer, the construction of the pitches will happen once he becomes Kwesi Nyantakyi’s successor.

“We will construct 12 standard pitches in 2 years. We will divide Ghana into three parts, the Southern, Nothern sector and the middle belt. We will also take some into the communities.

Our priority is to position them in such a way that there will be accessible for all people in Ghana. 12 pitches in 2 years under my administration will happen.” Ankoma Mensah told Asempa FM.

The Ghana Premier League (GPL) has suffered from player exodus in recent years and George Ankoma Mensah reiterated that he plans to introduce a policy to help keep talented footballers in the country to help the growth League.

“We have a merit award for exceptional players, where at the end of each season exceptional talent will be rewarded in monetary terms. This is a way to curb player exodus.

“The club and the player will be tied to a contract whereby the winner of the merit award will have to play in the GPL for another two seasons.”

Ankomah Mensah on Thursday, October 17 launched his football for all manifesto which highlighted his plans for Ghana football.

He is facing competition from Kurt Okraku, George Afriyie, Fred Pappoe, Nana Yaw Amponsah and Amanda Clinton for the country’s football top seat.

The GFA Presidential election is slated for October 25.
