The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has hit back at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) insisting that the Akufo-Addo administration has tackled corruption better.

His comments are in response to the NDC press conference that sought to downplay the President’s hailing of his government’s efforts in the fight against corruption at the Ghana Bar Conference on Monday.

In a Citi News interview, Mr. Boadu held that unlike former President John Mahama, President Nana Akufo-Addo is fighting corruption head-on.

He also said the NDC’s attempt to tag the President and the NPP with corruption will fail.

“He [President Akufo-Addo] is pointing out the efforts that he is making even when it is allegations that are sometimes based on nothing. He even goes to the extent of referring those people to institutions that are responsible for investigating those matters.”

The NDC’s charge

The General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia had called on Ghanaians to reject President Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2020 election because he lacks the courage to fight corruption.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah said the government was presiding over the biggest heist in the history of the country.

“Only a strong and unambiguous signal to president Akufo-Addo and his government can reverse the current drift of the country into an abyss of corruption and total collapse. we have the power to cause a change in the history of our country by refusing to surrender the public purse to a marauding gang of looters who present the facade of incorruptibility.”
