Ghanaian Actress, Film Producer and Entrepreneur, Yvonne Nelson believes the creative arts industry will benefit immensely from having proper policies and infrastructure to guide its operations.
The veteran actress believes a conscious effort to give Ghanaian content prominence on various mediums will bring better appreciation to the craft of individuals as well as position the industry to be invested in.
“For me, I invest the money as far as this industry is concerned. I want to see better infrastructure put in place. I want to see people investing in us because I invest money and when I do that I want to break even or make profit and that’s where my mind is. I want to see more cinema halls; we want to see local content on our television networks.
“We want to see actors coming together to work as one. If I could put that in the creative arts bill it will be good. I just want government to make sure all these networks are showing 70 % local content I will be happy I believe we don’t have that on our TV network,” She told Nana Adwoa Sarkodie of Citi News on the sidelines of the Masterclass an event held for stakeholders in the creative arts sector as part of the year of Return program
The President, Nana Akufo-Addo revealed to Parliament during the third State of the Nation address that the passage of the Bill will lead to the establishment of the Creative Arts Fund.
The Bill, when passed into law, will also serve as a legal instrument that will help in coordinating and regulating all the sects of the creative arts.
