The country’s biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it is ready to elect its parliamentary candidates from the 270 constituencies on Saturday.

At a press conference Wednesday, the General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah clarified that the primaries will not come off in five constituencies.

The primaries in the five constituencies – Yilo Krobo, Mpohor, Ellembelle, Asawase and Fanteakwa North – he explained were put on hold due to some unresolved issues surrounding the qualification of some aspirants.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah said the polls which will be organised by the country’s Electoral Commission will not know the NDC members “for that matter, their staff may not know you as a delegate so conduct yourselves well.”

He said the primary document for identification is the National Voters ID or any other National ID; the party’s ID, he said is a plus.

The NDC General Secretary urged all the delegates to exercise restraint and conduct themselves in the best manner.

He said the voters’ roll has been handed over to the EC and nobody will be allowed to vote if their name is not on the roll.

“Do not create problems for the EC,” he admonished.

He also advised aspirants not to campaign around the voting centre.

According to him, aspirants would only be allowed at the centre if they come with not more than three supporters.

Aspirants are also not allowed to play music and make merry within 500km from the polling centre.
