Born in Atlanta and raised in Lagos, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has defied all the privileges of being born with a silver spoon to create a name for himself not just in Nigeria and Africa but internationally.

It is very safe to say that Davido is one of the few young people who takes his art seriously, regardless of coming from a family with vast wealth.

As an upcoming act, he made his music debut as a member of the music group called KB international.

OBO as his fans love to call him, rose to fame in 2011 with the release of “Dami Duro”, the second single from his debut studio album Omo Baba Olowo (2012).

Going straight to winning The Headies Award for Next Rated in 2012, Davido has continued to make Nigeria proud with his talent. With an endorsement deal with MTN Nigeria in the bag in April 2012, the youngster with on to partner with Guinness Nigeria for the “Guinness World of More” concert in 23rd October 2013.

Davido was studying Business Administration at Oakwood University before dropping out when he started getting bad grades and relocated to London, where he went to focus on his vocals.

In January 2016, the singer announced that he had signed a record deal with Sony Music and few months after signing with Sony, he started his own label, Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) which now have the likes of Dremo, Mayorkun, and Peruzzi.

In 2018, OBO won the Best International Act award at the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards, while his hit song ‘Fall’ became the first Nigerian music video to hit 100 million views on YouTube.

And with his passion for music comes his passion to love, and his relationship with his girlfriend, Chioma Avril shows that well.

And with two baby mamas, Sophia Momodu and Amanda, and two daughters, Aurora Imade Adeleke, born on 14th May 2015 and Hailey Veronica Adeleke born on 9th of May 2017 in the USA — Davido is one celebrity who has never been accused of being a deadbeat father. As he takes joy in giving his daughters the best.

Recently, the music superstar emerged the richest Nigerian on Instagram, with his single post valued at over N26 million.

According to Instagram Rich List 2019 by Hopper HQ 2019, Davido stands at the second position in Africa after Mohammed Salah, Egyptian and Liverpool football star.

The “Aye” crooner has 11.8 million followers on IG as at Thursday, July 25, with each of his posts valued at 74,000 dollars, approximately 26 million naira.

With his favourite quote being ” We rise by lifting others”, the superstar never shies away from lending support to those he loves. When his uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke contested the Osun state governorship election in 2018, Davido will be remembered as one of those who pulled all his weight behind his uncle.

And let’s not forget his love for making the headlines and being controversial although he never hesitates to apologise when he overreacts.

For a fact, Davido is one Nigerian musician that will rule the music scene for a long time as the best is yet to come for our favourite OBO.
