Caleb Ansah Ekuban, the Black Stars player who missed a penalty kick that eventually led to Ghana’s exit from the African Cup of Nations tournament on Monday has apologized to Ghanaians, ABC News can report.

Ekuban’s missed penalty, gave the edge to Tunisia who would go on to win the match and progress to the Quarter Final stage of the ongoing tournament. Ekuban, the second to play from the spot for Ghana after a 1-1 draw at the end of 120 minutes had his penalty kick saved by the Tunisian goalkeeper, Farouk Ben Mustapha.

The rather unfortunate and highly unexpected outcome has left many Ghanaians still devastated with scores beginning the debate on who is to take the ultimate responsibility for Ghana’s inability to at least, qualify for the Semi Final stage as has been the case in the last 8 years.

But even before he’s put on the ‘chopping board’, Caleb Ekuban has apologized to all Ghanaians for missing his penalty kick.

A tweet from the player after the game read, “I’m really sorry”.

Ghanaians have been rather consoling with many urging the youngster on for greater heights in the future.

The Black Stars of Ghana were kicked out of the ongoing African cup of Nations tournament after a penalty shootout.

Tunisia took the lead in the game after scoring in the 73rd minute of the game. The equalizer, which was an own goal, came from Taha Yassine Khenissi in stoppage time.

After a rather drab and ‘cautious’ extra time, the Black Stars of Ghana lost to Tunisia in a 4-5 penalty shootout.
