Shatta Wale’s Gringo wins topmost award in Uganda

Ghanaian dancehall act, Charles Nii Armah, known in showbiz as Shatta Wale has won the top award in Uganda ahead of 2019 Ghana Music Awards.

The controversial singer’s Gringo video won the Best African Music Video at the just ended Ugandan Music Excellence Awards.

Shatta Wale took to his Instagram page to share the glory with his fans.

He beat music icons such as Sauti Sol, Patoranking, Yemi Alade, Flavour and Nasty C to win the coveted award.

The award will be a huge boost for Shatta Wale ahead of this year’s Ghana Music Awards.

The Gringo video was released by Zylofon Music on April 27, 2018, together with its music video.

The song was produced by Da Maker. In less than 48 hours after being released, the song reached number 4 on the US iTunes Top 100 reggae songs chart.

It was also a number one song on Ghana’s iTunes Singles Chart.
