Owusu Bempah 1Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, Founder and leader of the Glorious Word Ministry International

The founder and leader of the Glorious Word Ministry International, Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah, has been ‘invited’ by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) following an audio recording that allegedly captures the fiery preacher saying ex-President John Mahama is plotting to eliminate him, President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Bawumia and Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

A source at the CID headquarters told DAILY GUIDE that the police intercepted the said audio recording and want Rev Owusu Bempah to throw more light on the plot.

“A certain meeting has been held and I want to talk about that meeting that was held on this station. I am saying this as Owusu Bempah; that they have hired people to kill me. And they have said that they would do whatever is in their power to eliminate President Nana Akufo-Addo, as well as the vice president and our Papa Kennedy Agyapong and Chairman Wontumi. In total, they are five people. Ghanaians should take serious note of what I am saying,” the preacher is allegedly captured on the tape.

The source said the report for his arrest was allegedly lodged by the former National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams last Friday.

“Based on that, a verbal invitation was extended to the man of God to report to assist the police investigate the issue, but the reverend is yet to honour the invitation,” the source stated.

Invitation brouhaha

Yesterday, spokesperson for Rev Owusu Bempah, one Reverend Nana Kwesi, when contacted told DAILY GUIDE via telephone that his boss has not yet received any invitation from the CID in connection with the matter.

He said the Rev Owusu Bempah, who was not in the country, was not privy to the invitation by the CID.

Radio XYZ Attack

DAILY GUIDE learnt yesterday in the afternoon that radio presenter Salifu Maase, aka Mugabe, together with Harrison Okrah, who are all working for Radio XYZ, lodged a formal complaint against Reverend Owusu Bempa for threatening to kill Mugabe.

Accompanied by George Loh, a former NDC MP for North Dayi, who is acting as a counsel for Mugabe, the two gave their statements on what transpired last week when Rev Owusu Bempah stormed Radio XYZ to allegedly threaten them.

Mr. Harrison Okrah, producer of the show, later told the paper that he only wrote his statement based on his knowledge of the issue.

“We are ready. Any time they call us, we will make ourselves available,” he said.

He explained that the topics for discussion and interviewees for the show are put together by him and the production team.

Possible Provocation

During the show last Thursday, Mugabe, the host angrily, used harsh language on Rev Owusu Bempah, some of which were unprintable.

The programme was provocative and President Akufo-Addo was not left out of the vitriolic session.

Mugabe also expressed his readiness to fight anybody on behalf of former President Mahama, who truncated his four-month jail through a pardon in 2016.

Apart from that, Mugabe threatened that Rev Owusu Bempah and others will flee the country with their sandals.

“We all live in this country, some people will flee,” the presenter fired at the fiery preacher, adding that “Owusu Bempah and others will run away with their sandals from this country. I am daring you this afternoon. If you are a man come out!”

Mugabe’s diatribe appeared to have incensed Rev. Owusu Bempah, who reportedly stormed the radio station to create a scene at the studios.

East Legon Police

Meanwhile, East Legon Police have also invited Rev Owusu Bempah to assist them investigate the same issue.

Later Deputy Superintendent of Police, Abena Benewaa Kwabena, Crime Officer of the East Legon Police Station, told DAILY GUIDE that they had also invited Rev Owusu Bempah over the matter.

“We gave him 1pm but he told us he was in Kumasi, and so we have given him up to 5:30pm today to report,” she told the paper yesterday.
