Ghanaian international and Iran-based defender Samuel Sarfo is relishing for a second call-up into the national team by Coach Kwasi Appiah after his first debut in 2017.

The Tehran-based Saipa F.C. defender who has featured prominently for his club side believes he has a long-term future with the Black Stars.

“I am looking forward to making a return to the national team and joining the team to win this year’s AFCON in Egypt,” he told the Daily Graphic and GraphicSportsOnline in an exclusive interview from his Tehran base yesterday.

The ace Liberty Professionals defender has catapulted Saipa FC to the sixth position in the Persian Gulf Pro League, the premier league division in Iran.

The former Liberty skipper is also counting his blessings after qualifying his team to the Asia Champions League.

“I believe in Coach Kwasi Appiah and belive he can win the AFCON this year; I want to be part of his winning team,” he told this medium.

Regarded as the most prolific defender to take over from the legendary ‘Rock of Gibraltar’ John Mensah, Sarfo told the GraphicSportsOnline that the sky is the limit with the Black Stars.

“I want to be a Black Stars legend, play my hearts out for the nation if the opportunity is given and win laurels, he stated.

Sarfo believes he has not been neglected by the Stars’ coach contrary to speculations from some media outlets.

“Kwasi Appiah still believes in me, I believe he will call me at the right time,” the 28-year-old former police officer noted.
