National Sports Authority has issued a statement to the public to express their discontent at the unsporting behavior exhibited by some football fans during last Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup game between Asante Kotoko and Al Hilal of Sudan at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The fans were seen throwing missiles onto the pitch during the game after Ethiopian referee Bamlak Tessema Weyesa refused to award Kotoko a penalty when he was brought down in the box.

The NSA has issued a statement to that effect and have instructed the clubs to educate their fans as measures will be taken to punish fans who are caught in the act.

A statement signed by Mr Charles Obeng Amofah, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NSA indicated: “the Authority is unhappy with the behaviour of some of the fans, who at a point threw all manner of items onto the pitch.

“We wish to caution fans on this unacceptable behaviour and to make it clear that any such acts would not be countenance in the future. We also urge the leadership of our beloved clubs to step-up the education of their supporters with regards to their comportment during matches of this nature in order to avoid certain sanctions against the clubs,”.
