Atletico Madrid midfielder, Thomas Partey, would miss their return leg clash against Juventus next month after picking up a yellow card in the first leg played on Wednesday, February 20.
The Ghanaian was booked for a reckless challenge on Juventus Paulo Dybala just on the stroke of half time making it his third bookings of the Champions League campaign.
By that decision, the 25-year-old Ghanaian would be ineligible to play for the Madrid side from his accumulated cards having earlier been booked during their 1-3 loss to Real Madrid in the 80th minute on February 9 and against Sevilla on January 6 when they played 1-1 draw.
Partey’s Atletico Madrid beat Juventus 2-0 with goals from Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin ensuring Cristiano Ronaldo’s pursuit for a fourth straight Champions League trophy was dealt a severe blow.
Diego Costa would be the other Atletico Madrid player who would miss the return leg while Juventus’ left-back Alex Sandro will also miss the second leg on Tuesday, March 12, after picking up his third bookings of the tournament.
