Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has warned the media against mounting pressure on his team to deliver.

Over the weekend, the Porcupine Warriors suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sudanese heavyweights, Al Hilal Omdurman in Khartoum in the Group C opener of the 2018/2019 CAF Confederation Cup to end the Reds unbeaten run in the competition.

Speaking on Metro FM in Kumasi, Akonnor believes that things can turn around with 5 matches more to end the group stages despite losing their first game and has however forewarned those putting pressure on his players and has asked for pressure to be directed to him.

“No one should put pressure on the players, it will only Cost the team, we will win but don’t put pressure on them, the pressure should be directed to me, the media should stop putting pressure on the players”, he notified.

Asante Kotoko will next host Zambian champions Zesco United who won their group C opener 2-0 against local rivals Nkana FC at the Baba Yara sports stadium on, Wednesday, January 13, 2019, at 3:00 PM local time.

CK Akonnor and his charges have however enjoyed a flamboyant start to the of the campaign winning three matches, a draw, and a loss
