Construction of Youth Resource Centre in Dormaa underway

The construction of a Youth resource centre in Dormaa in the Brong Ahafo Region has started and the site has been visited by the Youth and Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah, on Monday.

The project forms part of the Ministry’s intentions of increasing sporting infrastructure to help develop more athletes for the nation.

The Sports Minister was at the site to see the progress of the work being done by the contractor.

Aside from the Brong Ahafo, the Minister is expected to visit other sites for the resource centres in all the regions of Northern Ghana.

In May 2018, the first construction works were started in the Northern and Upper East Regions and they have been replicated across the country. At the time, the Minister stated that the centres would be done in 9 months meaning that by the end of February 2019, they should be ready for use.

The facilities will have an 8-lane athletic track, a FIFA standard pitch, career counseling center, basketball and handball courts as well as a multi-purpose sports hall, a restaurant and an ICT center. The mini-stadium will have a capacity of 5,000 people.
