Sylla has been released by Kotoko

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have mutually agreed to part ways with Ivorian midfielder Mohammed Sylla with just a few months left on his contract, the club has confirmed.

Th Ivorian midfielder has failed to live up to expectation since joining the Porcupine Warriors on a two-year deal in 2017.

The 23-year-old, who managed just two appearances during the first round of the Ghana Premier League season, spent most of his time outside the club’s matchday squads.

The left-footed player, who had just a few months remaining on his contract, was not registered for Kotoko’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign according to a club statement on Tuesday.

“Asante Kotoko have terminated the contract of midfielder Sylla Vie Mohammed after discussions with the player at the club’s secretariat last Tuesday,” said a club statement on its website.

“The Ivorian signed a two-year contract with Asante Kotoko in December 2017 but has since failed to secure a starting place in the team.

“The left-footed player spent most of his time in the club out of matchday squads having made the bench and also featured in games on few occasions.”

This decision to part ways with Sylla, according to the club’s statement, comes on the back of a thorough deliberation between the club and player at the club’s secretariat in Kumasi on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Reds will travel to Cameroun to face Coton Sport for the first leg match in the final play-off the CAF Confederations Cup on the weekend of January 11 to 13.
