Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, is appealing for calm as government gathers incontrovertible evidence to prosecute corrupt officials.

He noted that the wheels of justice grinds slowly thus the Akufo-Addo led government will need time to do a good job.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah’s comment is in response to concerns raised by some citizens over the delays in the prosecution of alleged corrupt officials in the erstwhile Mahama led government.

The Akufo-Addo government had promised to prosecute officials in the Mahama administration who have been found to have wasted the public funds with impunity.

But after two years in government, that promise has not seen the light of day with many concluding that President Akufo-Addo has not shown enough commitment in the corruption fight.

They indicated that after almost two years of the NPP in power, there was very little to show for the numerous corruption cases NPP alleged on the campaign trail in 2016.

But in a riposte, Hon. Oppong Nkrumah on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday said there was light at the end of the tunnel.

He explained that prosecutions are ongoing and the Attorney Generals Department is still building cases against ex-government officials and will put them before court soon.

Conceding that prosecutions have somewhat delayed, the Information Minister said they were doing due diligence to ensure anyone put before court will go straight to jail.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah urged Ghanaians to disregard the vile propaganda and support government to fulfil all its campaign promises.
