Black Stars Coach, James Kwesi Appiah reached the last four with the Black Stars in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa but is confident he has quality players at his disposal to make a claim for the trophy this year.
Ghana topped its group after a 2-2 draw against DR Congo, 1-0 win over Mali and a 3-0 victory against Niger.
The Black Stars defeated Cape Verde 2-0 in the quarterfinals but found it tough against Burkina Faso in the semifinals as the Burkinabes went through with a 3-2 shootout win after the two sides have fought out a 1-1 draw.
Appiah was quizzed on Ghana’s chances of lifting the ultimate trophy and his response was positive.
“Yes, I think we have quality players (to win it). But successes does not come just because you have a quality team.”
“Its really been a long time that we won the AFCON since 1982. We all know that and it is important for us to go into the tournament with a mentality to win it.”
