Source: <\/strong>Starrfmonline.com <\/p>\n2018-02-26<\/p>\n\nplay video<\/span>Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\t\t <a href=\"\/\/ghanaweb-d.openx.net\/w\/1.0\/rc?cs=b2ad7fa7fd&cb=151125813973067\"><\/p>\n<p>\t\t <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/1519683697_287_ai\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\">The Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has assured the Auditor General, Daniel Domelovo, that government will not interfere in his job and will give him the needed resources to help him fight corruption.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the 2018 Accountability Lectures and Launching of the 2017 Financial Year\u2019s Audits, Dr. Bawumia said government\u2019s decision to increase the budget for the Audit Service is an indication that the government is willing to help the service fight corruption in the public sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am sure the Auditor-General can testify that since coming into office, this Government has not interfered with his work. In fact, I can assure you that not only will we not interfere with your work, we will rather provide the right environment for the Auditor-General to continue doing his job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe as a country, we have what it takes to generate sufficient revenue to provide jobs for our teeming tertiary graduates, and also build a sound infrastructure base for economic growth and development. To do this, it is necessary that much attention is given to revenue mobilization to ensure that all moneys due to the State by way of tax and non-tax revenue are fully and properly collected and accounted for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the Vice President, without \u201cblocking\u201d the leakages in the system, all efforts towards revenue generation will go to waste because some public officeholders will collude with third parties or private sector operators to appropriate public funds for their personal economic gains.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can assure you, Mr. Auditor-General and the Audit Service Board that, on our part as government we would make every effort to provide you with the needed resources for your work. We have already demonstrated it by increasing your budget for goods and services from GHC14 million in 2016, to GHC19 million in 2017, and almost doubling it to GHC35 million in the 2018 budget.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am proud to say that as we did in 2017, government is committed to releasing all your budgeted funds in 2018.
