The Ranking is Ghana\u2019s worst performance in the last six years.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Batidam, who is on the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption, bemoaned the country\u2019s steady progress in fighting corruption which is now sliding backwards again.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018From what I am seeing now, I can say that in Ghana now, the perception of corruption is a reality\u2026this gov\u2019t has not done much to its credit when it comes to the fight against corruption. President Nana Akufo-Addo will have to sit up\u2026his government is doing nothing to fight corruption,\u2019 he told Francis Abban on Morning Starr.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the government\u2019s appointees are alleged to have engaged in corruption in their line of duties.<\/p>\n<p>Ghana, dropped three points from its 2016 score of 43 to 40 in 2017 and ranked 81 out of the total of 180 countries.<\/p>\n<p>Cumulatively, Ghana has dropped eight points since 2016, the CPI, was released on Wednesday, February 21 by Transparency International.<\/p>\n<p>The CPI score, indicates the perceived level of public sector corruption on a scale of zero (being highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).<\/p>\n<p>Executive Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative, Linda Ofori- Kwafo, said Ghana\u2019s poor score in 2017 was a reflection of inadequate investigations, prosecutions and sanctioning of corrupt officials.<\/p>\n<p>Presenting the report, she said Ghana performed \u201cnot too good\u201d adding \u201csince the CPI became comparable from the period 2012 to now, this is the worst performance that Ghana has had.
