{"id":466817,"date":"2018-02-23T06:37:33","date_gmt":"2018-02-23T06:37:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2018\/02\/23\/trade-fair-ceo-to-sue-atik-for-defamation\/"},"modified":"2018-02-23T06:37:33","modified_gmt":"2018-02-23T06:37:33","slug":"trade-fair-ceo-to-sue-atik-for-defamation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2018\/02\/23\/trade-fair-ceo-to-sue-atik-for-defamation\/","title":{"rendered":"Trade Fair CEO to sue Atik for defamation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Atik-Mohammed-Trade-Fair-CEO-475x267.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"mashsb-container mashsb-main mashsb-stretched\"> <\/aside>\n<p>The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Trade Fair Company, Dr. Agnes Adu has threatened to institute legal action against the suspended General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed for defaming her.<\/p>\n<p>Atik had taken to his Facebook wall to question why Dr. Agnes Adu is drawing such huge salary when the firm she heads is saddled with massive debt that has left the entity not functioning effectively.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cYou are appointed to help revive the struggling Ghana Trade Fair Company Ltd and you pay yourself GHS 20,000. How insensitive! I thought the Finance Minister was reviewing downward all CEO salaries! These are some of the things that will cripple this government. No money to undertake major capital investments and some recurrent spending and yet one person heading a defunct state owned company is bagging about GHS 250,000 annually. Where are the priorities and the mantra of \u201cbusiness will not be as usual\u201d under the NPP?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But moments later after Atik\u2019s post which drew several comments, the Trade Fair CEO responded to Atik, setting the records straight since she assumed office in 2017, after taking over from the former CEO appointed by the erstwhile Mahama administration.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, at the time she assumed office,\u00a0<span data-ft=\"{&quot;tn&quot;:&quot;K&quot;}\"><span class=\"UFICommentBody _1n4g\">ECG had cut off power to the Trade Fair Company since 2015, the\u00a0employees hadn\u2019t been paid for 18 months while the NDC CEO had failed to collect revenue from tenants and were in arrears nearly GHC2 million.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ft=\"{&quot;tn&quot;:&quot;K&quot;}\"><span class=\"UFICommentBody _1n4g\">Dr Adu noted that within her 6 months in office and within the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0first 90 days she collected nearly GHC 1 million in ground rent arrears and every penny went into the company bank account, adding that she\u2019s\u00a0worked for free at no pay and has continued to work month after month with no pay.<\/p>\n<p>She added that she\u2019s been able to restore power to the Trade Fair Company and for the first time in 18months the employees except herself get a paycheck every month.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cSo I\u2019ll give you 20 mins to check the record and issue an apology or I will take this defamatory post to the courts. I get that you only live in propaganda but you\u2019ve picked the wrong woman to mess with.
