The strictly by invitation event had officials of the Domestic Violence &amp; Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) asking wives to report their abusive husbands.<\/p>\n<p>The comedienne speaking at the launch hosted by comedian Hogan told her story as a domestic violence survivor. Afia Schwarzenegger disclosed that her ex-husband, Lawrence Abrokwah maltreated her on several occasions even though she was the breadwinner of the house. According to her, \u201cI never for once thought I was in an abusive relationship. I felt I was in love with a troubled young man whose inability to provide for his family as a man has caused him stress. Sometimes I tell myself Lack of employment is the reason he is hitting me all the time and when he gets a job he will change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added that men of God, family and other respected personalities in the country came to beg her to stay with her abusive husband anytime she decided to walk out of the marriage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring these consistent attacks, I had family, men of God, friends begging me to remain in the hell I was in called marriage but I decided enough is enough as valuing life should be ones topmost priority in the world.\u201d Afia stated<\/p>\n<p>Leave 2live Foundation with its foreign partners Face Forward will give free medical assistance to domestic violence victims who are in need of medical assistance in terms of surgery, counselling, empowerment seminars, assisting victims in endorsing their police medical reports and giving confidence to the weak.
