style=\"clear:right\">Barely four days after the accident that claimed the lives of musician Ebony Reigns and two of her companions at Nyamebekyere on the Kumasi-Sunyani highway, the contractor who abandoned work on the road has cleared the heap of sand on that stretch where the incident happened.<\/p>\n<p>To prevent further accidents that could claim lives, the residents of towns along the stretch have mobilised and are manually filling potholes.<\/p>\n<p>A tour of the Kumasi-Sunyani highway by the Daily Graphic on Tuesday revealed that the residents have also resorted to the construction of road humps to force speeding vehicles to slow down.<\/p>\n<p>At Aburaso, residents were seen carrying sand in wheelbarrows and buckets to fill pot holes and create speed humps along the route.<\/p>\n<p>A native of the town, 70-year-old Opanyin Adusei, told the Daily Graphic that they had lost trust in the Ghana Highway Authority because several appeals to the authority had fallen on deaf ears.<\/p>\n<p>He said they were aware that it was illegal to construct speed humps, but indicated that they were doing that to save their lives since the authorities had failed to address their concerns.<\/p>\n<p>A Benz bus driver, who gave his name as Yaw Ofori, said he had been operating on the Kumasi-Sunyani route daily for the past decade, adding that the portion which recorded the accident that claimed the life of the musician was noted to be accident-prone.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ofori expressed surprise about how quickly the contractor working on the road cleared the heap of sand after the gory accident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis heap of sand had been  here since early last year,\u201d he said and urged the government to deal drastically with contractors who neglected their
