That headline did not accurately capture the thoughts of Ace Anan Ankomah in an answer he gave to a question about whether or not his wife is fit for the position of 2nd Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana on &#8217;21 minutes with KKB&#8217;. We have since amended the headline to reflect his position on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>We unreservedly apologise to Mr. and Mrs Ankomah for any harm or embarrassment this may have caused.<\/p>\n<p>Read below the full story;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI saw stories in the press, we all saw stories in the press which seem to think that the only reason she\u2019s being considered for a position is that she\u2019s my wife; that\u2019s an insult to an extremely brilliant woman who\u2019s been to school\u2026 she has a BA from Legon, she has an MBA, ACCA, she\u2019s the Managing Director of Ecobank, Gambia,\u201d respected private legal practitioner Ace Anan Ankomah has stated in response to reports suggesting that his spouse is being considered for the position of the Second Deputy Governor of the Central Bank in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>He was however quick to add that the deal would not pan out.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier reports by some online news portals indicated that wife of the convener of OccupyGhana, Mrs Josephine Anan Ankomah was in pole position to replace the recently resigned Bank of Ghana Second Deputy Governor Johnson Asiamah.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Kwabena Kyenkyenhene Boateng on \u201821 Minutes with KKB,\u2019 Mr. Ankomah strongly opposed assertions speculating that his wife was being considered for the role because of affiliations to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026she\u2019s a woman who\u2019s established herself in her own right. She\u2019s entitled to be considered as that and not as a mere appendage to me. I think I\u2019m probably the appendage to her\u2026 because when I go to Banjul I\u2019m Mrs. Ankomah\u2019s husband\u201d, he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Asked what his perspective was regarding the unending reports linking his wife to the BoG post and whether she would take the offer, he discarded them noting it was subjective to the decision of the appointment committee as well as Mrs. Josephine Anan Ankomah.<\/p>\n<p>On further probe however, Ace Ankomah cautioned that given the opportunity, his wife would be paying a steep price in considering the political position since she was barely 10 years away from a good retirement having worked at her current place virtually all her working life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou work in a place for your whole working life, maybe 10 years to retirement and you can see the retirement ahead of you that if you remain at that position, your retirement may be good. And then you decide 10 years before the time to quit that comfort zone and get into a position that\u2019s literally political. So you\u2019re forgoing literally all you\u2019ve worked for and nailing your flag to the mast of a system that is political; you can be removed tomorrow&#8230;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Currently serving as the Managing Director of Ecobank, Gambia, Josephine Anan Ankomah, the wife of popular lawyer Ace Anan Ankomah has a rich experience in the banking sector with more than 20 years under her belt.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/content.jwplatform.com\/players\/rvy2L8lR-GtVgZhNx.html\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"auto\" allowfullscreen=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>Background<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The B&amp;FT reported that Mrs Anan Ankomah is set to replace Dr. Johnson P.
