{"id":463672,"date":"2018-02-12T16:49:27","date_gmt":"2018-02-12T16:49:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2018\/02\/12\/akufo-addo-appoints-elsie-awadzi-as-2nd-dep-governor-of-bog\/"},"modified":"2018-02-12T16:49:27","modified_gmt":"2018-02-12T16:49:27","slug":"akufo-addo-appoints-elsie-awadzi-as-2nd-dep-governor-of-bog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2018\/02\/12\/akufo-addo-appoints-elsie-awadzi-as-2nd-dep-governor-of-bog\/","title":{"rendered":"Akufo-Addo appoints Elsie Awadzi as 2nd Dep Governor of BoG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"bsac bsac-clearfix bsac-post-top bsac-float-center bsac-align-center bsac-column-1 bsac-hide-on-phone bsac-hide-on-tablet-portrait bsac-hide-on-tablet-landscape bsac-hide-on-desktop\">\n<div id=\"bsac-277964-885674138\" class=\"bsac-container bsac-type-image  bsac-hide-on-desktop bsac-hide-on-tablet-portrait bsac-hide-on-tablet-landscape bsac-hide-on-phone\" itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/WPAdBlock\" data-adid=\"277964\" data-type=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bsac-image\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/top-banner-web-renault.jpg\" alt=\"Renault\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Mrs Elsie Awadzi as the 2nd Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment is, however, subject to consultation with the Council of State.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Awadzi is an International Economic and Financial lawyer with a total of 21 years of professional experience working in various capacities in Ghana and internationally.<\/p>\n<p>Her key areas of specialization are financial sector development and regulation, financial stability assessments, design of crisis management frameworks and financial safety nets, and legal and institutional aspects of public financial management.<\/p>\n<p>She was until the appointment, a Senior Counsel of the IMF\u2019s Legal Department (Financial and Fiscal Law Unit) with experience working on countries such as Japan, South Africa, and the United Kingdom; and advised on financial sector reforms in many countries in the context of the IMF\u2019s surveillance, lending, and technical assistance activities.<\/p>\n<p>Before joining the IMF in 2012, Elsie was a Commissioner of Ghana\u2019s Securities &amp; Exchange Commission for six years, worked on key financial sector legal reforms in Ghana, and worked in private law practice, among others.<\/p>\n<p>She holds an LL.M. degree (International Business and Economic Law) with distinction from the Georgetown University Law Centre, an M.B.A. (Finance) from the University of Ghana and an LL.B.
