{"id":462698,"date":"2018-02-08T15:40:44","date_gmt":"2018-02-08T15:40:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2018\/02\/08\/bawumias-hard-work-showing-positive-results-akufo-addo\/"},"modified":"2018-02-08T15:40:44","modified_gmt":"2018-02-08T15:40:44","slug":"bawumias-hard-work-showing-positive-results-akufo-addo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2018\/02\/08\/bawumias-hard-work-showing-positive-results-akufo-addo\/","title":{"rendered":"Bawumia\u2019s hard work showing positive results \u2013 Akufo-Addo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"bsac bsac-clearfix bsac-post-top bsac-float-center bsac-align-center bsac-column-1 bsac-hide-on-phone bsac-hide-on-tablet-portrait bsac-hide-on-tablet-landscape bsac-hide-on-desktop\">\n<div id=\"bsac-277964-1202913745\" class=\"bsac-container bsac-type-image  bsac-hide-on-desktop bsac-hide-on-tablet-portrait bsac-hide-on-tablet-landscape bsac-hide-on-phone\" itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/WPAdBlock\" data-adid=\"277964\" data-type=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bsac-image\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/top-banner-web-renault.jpg\" alt=\"Renault\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia received a pat on the back from his boss Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for being on top of his game in managing the economy.<\/p>\n<p>President Akufo-Addo described his vice as a hardworking personality with remarkable leadership qualities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am glad to be able to report that the Economic Management Team, under the stellar leadership of the strong, brilliant economist, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, has risen to the challenge, and the hard work is beginning to show positive results,\u201d Nana Addo expressed during his second State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday, 08 February 2018.<\/p>\n<p>He told the lawmakers that his government has kept its promises and will continue to deliver to boost the economy as well as transform the lives of Ghanaians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have reduced taxes, we are bringing down inflation and interest rates, economic growth is increasing, from the alarming 3.6% at December 2016, to 7.9% in our first year, and the indications are that it will be even better this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have increased our international reserves, maintained relative exchange rate stability, reduced the debt to GDP ratio and the rate of debt accumulation, we have paid almost half of arrears inherited, and, crucially, we are current on obligations to statutory funds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am also pleased to report that the 3-year IMF-supported Extended Credit Facility Programme, begun in 2015, comes to an end this year.
