Minority walk out of cash-for-seat debate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"medsection1\">\n<!-- End of html generated by this->header() --><\/p>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">General News of Tuesday,  6 February 2018<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>Myjoyonline.com <\/p>\n<p>2018-02-06<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/15161301.295.jpg\" alt=\"Haruna Iddrissu Lll\" title=\"Haruna Iddrissu Lll\" width=\"295\" height=\"195\" \/><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>Haruna Iddrisu, Minority Leader<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"noPrint\">\n<div id=\"537626303\" style=\"width:300;height:250;margin:0;padding:0\">\n<p>\t\t  <noscript><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"b2ad7fa7fd\" name=\"b2ad7fa7fd\" src=\"http:\/\/ghanaweb-d.openx.net\/w\/1.0\/afr?auid=537626303&amp;cb=151125813973067\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"><a href=\"\/\/ghanaweb-d.openx.net\/w\/1.0\/rc?cs=b2ad7fa7fd&amp;cb=151125813973067\"><\/p>\n<p>\t\t  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/1517945422_617_ai\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\">Minority in Parliament has walked out of a debate on the cash-for-seat probe which investigated claims the Presidency was used for fundraising by a private event organizer, Millenium Excellence Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, walked out after the committee tasked to investigate the scandal presented a report before Parliament without the input of the Minority.<\/p>\n<p>The Minority contribution to the report was rejected after Dominic Ayine presented his side&#8217;s view after the deadline, it has been reported.<\/p>\n<p>Dominic Ayine has been accused of failing to participate in committee meetings, not picking calls and sending text messages at 2:00am to explain his absence.<\/p>\n<p>As the Chairman of the committee, Ameyaw Kyremeh, who was presenting the 146-page report was interrupted by the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, who protested on the basis of a Point of Order.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that by the Standing Orders of the House, 48 hours must elapse before a motion on the report can be debated. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mr. Speaker, 48 hours have not elapsed and I am at a loss as to why we are in a hurry&#8221;, he said amidst heckling.<\/p>\n<p>The Minority Leader said MPs only received copies of the report in the morning and cannot be expected to study the voluminous 146 pages within minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The House degenerated into heckling until the Speaker intervened and asked for the Minority Leader to be heard.<\/p>\n<p>Thanking the Speaker for &#8220;the protection&#8221;, Haruna Iddrisu further argued, there can be no meaningful contributions to the debate if the MPs are not given time to study the report.<\/p>\n<p>He said he has noticed that the &#8220;lucid&#8221;
