If the president is saying that I\u2019ve now resolved to start cracking the whips that is understandable. It\u2019s a complete violation of the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mohammed stressed the 1992 Constitution empowers the president to \u201cfire\u201d his appointees but not to suspend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArticle 81 says he can fire him. Now on what reason is he suspending the person. Let\u2019s see what happens. Which provision of the Constitution are they evoking?\u201d Mohammed asked.<\/p>\n<p>Article 81 of the 1992 Constitution states: \u201cThe office of a Minister of State or a Deputy Minister shall become vacant if-<\/p>\n<p>(a) his appointment is revoked by the President; or<\/p>\n<p>(b) he is elected as Speaker or Deputy Speaker; or<\/p>\n<p>(c) he resigns from office; or<\/p>\n<p>(d) he dies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the same show, the 2nd Vice Chairman of the NPP, Nana Fredua-Agyeman Ofori Atta, averred the president is acting within the confines of the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnybody who doesn\u2019t understand Article 81 of our Constitution in its clear terms is not speaking the truth\u2026 The Regional Minister has the option of resigning.
