‘Shame on Buhari’: Fani-Kayode recounts how Shagari was ousted out of power, put under house arrest and more

History was quickly resorted to, after the death of Nigeria’s first executive president, Shehu Shagari was announced by his grandson, Bello Shagari on Friday evening. Shagari, had passed away at the national hospital, Abuja after a brief illness.

Many quickly referred to his government which was short lived, after Muhammadu Buhari, then a military officer, toppled Shagari’s government in 1983, over allegations of massive corruption.

One of those to refer back to history,  is former Aviation minister, and Peoples Democratic Party PDP, chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode.

In a some tweets in Saturday, Mr Fani-Kayode recounted how Buhari, ousted Shagari out of power, placed on house arrest for two years and his ministers ‘hunted, kidnapped and jailed.’

You ousted him from power, put him under house arrest for two years, made sure he almost went blind, labelled him inept, corrupt and crooked, hunted his Ministers like animals, kidnapped them on the streets of London, jailed his associates for hundreds of years and sent many of them to an early grave.

According to Fani-Kayode, Buhari eulogise Shagari after his death is shame and would never find forgiveness from God, for what he did to ‘compassionate and kind gentleman.’

Now that he has died you are eulogising and praising him. Shame on you Buhari. God will never forgive you for what you did to the compassionate and kind gentleman called President Shehu Shagari.
