A Non-Governmental Organisation, Joy Foundation (JF) organized a party for children in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region on Boxing Day

Over 3000 children congregated at the Goldfields Junior Staff Club House in Tarkwa for merrymaking.

The highly elated and enthusiastic crowd was treated to food and drinks amidst outdoor games and dancing to foster unity and peaceful co-existence.

The children also received exercise books and other stationery to enhance their academic work and boost their morale for education.

A competition in singing and dancing was organised and each of the 20 winners took home 20 exercise books, a School bag, five pens, 10 pencils, a quantity of minerals and T-shirts branded in the Foundation logo.

The children who came from Tarkwa and the surrounding communities were treated to a good musical show by a popular artist from the Region, NERO X and some other artists from Takoradi.

This year’s event was unique under the theme; “Just Others and You”, and attracted hundreds of children from Ahwetiaso, Dompim, Wassa Agona, Simpa, Tebrebre among other communities.

The CEO of the Foundation, Miss Jocelyn Andoh in an interview with the media expressed joy at the massive turn out of the event which was very successful.

She said Christmas was a period for children as the Saviour Jesus Christ, came into the world as a child.

She, therefore said, there was the need to put smiles on the faces of children during this period.

She said her main aim of giving out to children, majority of whom could not celebrate the Christmas with their guardians due to circumstances beyond their limits was successfully achieved and from the excitement exhibited by the children at the event, she is proud of it.

Miss Joyceln said in a jovial manner “If these children are happy, l am also happy and as you can see from the faces of these kids, no one should ask me if l am happy, perhaps my answer will be l am over excited”.

She acknowledged the great assistance the foundation received from Nana Okobeng, a Philanthropist in Western Region, who is also the Life Patron of the Foundation.

She added that it was about time Ghanaians donate to children during such occasions and hoped other benevolent organizations will join hands with Joy Foundation next year to enroll thousands of needy and brilliant children back to school.

She revealed that currently her Foundation has over 200 children mostly orphans whom she has put back to school and has provided them with school uniforms, school bags, sandals, books and other items and hope with the support of other individuals and organizations the number will hit over 500 which is her target come next year.

The Life Patron who was the Special Guest of honour, Nana Okobeng lauded the CEO for such an initiative, which he described as a novelty.

He, therefore, advised the Children to respect elders in their communities and urged them to refrain from unacceptable behaviour that could destroy their lives and also be religious.

He also urged them to take their education seriously and learn hard to become great persons in future.

Nana, pledged his total commitment to support the Foundation to achieve its intended purposes.

All the children interviewed praised the CEO and the sponsor for making them feel the euphoria of this year’s Christmas for without them they would not have enjoyed this year’s festivity and prayed the good Lord guides and protects the organisers especially the Foundation CEO, Miss Jocelyn Andoh to organize same event next Year.
