Melaye Accuses Police of Planning to ‘Inject Him to Death’

Senator Dino Melaye, lawmaker representing Kogi west senatorial district, has accused Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of Police (IGP) of planning to arrest and inject him to death.

The lawmaker made the allegation in a Twitter post on Tuesday, saying officers of the Nigerian police have already been deployed for the assignment.

“There is a plan by the IG to arrest me today and inject me to death. Men deployed already. CP Kogi and others removed. Nigerians watch out,” he tweeted.

He however failed to give reasons or possible motives for the extraordinary allegation against the police with whom he has had a running battle over the past year.

The embattled senator is facing charges of criminal conspiracy in his home state Kogi, after a busted gang implicated him in their nefarious activities.

He famously jumped off a police vehicle earlier this year to protest being transferred to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, for trial, and news of his alleged kidnap broke weeks later with the case set to commence.

The police has yet to respond to his latest staggering allegations.
