The Chinese government has presented ICT equipment worth $20,000 to the National House of Chiefs to help in its digitisation project.
The items are 10 desktop computers, two laptops, two external hard drives, 10 anti-virus software, two air conditioners, 10 wireless adaptors, one server machine and two canon scanners.
They were presented by the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Shi Ting Wang, in response to an appeal made by the house for support to digitise most of its works and also preserve the memory of the chieftaincy institution.
The Ambassador also gave the chiefs GHc20,000 towards the capacity building of the human resource of the house.

Presenting the items, Mr Shi said the Chinese government attached great importance to the role and work of traditional leaders in the social and economic development of the country.
He also acknowledged the role the current President of the National House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV, was playing in the economic development of Ghana and cited a few of his investments, including the Africa World Airline and the Sonon Asogli Power Plant.
Mr Shi called for stronger collaboration between the two countries for their mutual benefit, saying: “With the joint efforts of our two governments and peoples, China and Ghana will definitely embrace a better tomorrow. “
Digital project
For his part, Togbe Afede was grateful to the Chinese government for the donation, which he said would greatly help the digitisation project.
He said the project was to ensure that all the cases that had been handled by the various houses were made accessible to all via the website of the house.
Besides that, he said, there was the need to keep good records and build a memory for the chieftaincy institution and the house in particular.
The project was, therefore, to scan all the documents of the house and put them on a hard drive.
He appealed to all the traditional and regional houses to get involved in the project and get all their documents digitised.
