Ghanaian referee Alex Kotey has been slapped with a suspension by the Referee Association of Ghana (RAG) following a comment he made on Happy FM Sports Show.
According to RAG, retired referee Kotey comment, “I will not mention any name because I don’t know any name. That’s why I said we must all bow down our heads in shame” I can’t mention any referee who has the integrity, not even the RAG chairman” is a case of defamatory to the association and needs to face a suspension after fruitful ways to meet him has proved futile.
The letter signed by Kwao Sampson, deputy General Secretary stated that, until Alex Kotey appears before RAG committee, he is suspended from all football activities and RAG activities.
The release reads:
Dear Sir, SUSPENSION Following your defamatory comments made on Tuesday, 21st August 2018 within the hours of 8.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. at Happy FM Sports Show, the Association attempted to have you appear before the Executive Committee of RAG for an explanation. However, on several occasions, you failed to make yourself available.
