The lawsuit will target Mr. Ade Coker, Greater Accra regional Chairman of the NDC and the party

Mr Stephen Ashitey Adjei, an Executive member of the Tema East Constituency branch has threatened to take the leadership of the party to court if measures are not taken to redeem its image.

He explained that the suit would be directed at Joseph Kobina Ade Coker as the Greater Accra regional Chairman and the party.

Mr Ashitey Adjei, popularly called Moshake, said he was constrained to resort to the law because a petition that he addressed to the Greater Accra regional Chairman about his ‘unlawful’suspension by the Tema East Chairman and Secretary had been ignored.

In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr Adjei alleged that he was suspended because he openly campaigned for Second Deputy Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

He said the two executives, Alhaji Mahama Bulisah, chairman and Seidu Abdulai, secretary published his suspension on social media without copying him.

He alleged that another reason for his suspension was his quest for the constituency executives to account for monies that were donated to the party, but were not accounted for.

“Among others, the Constituency Chairman has failed to account for a monthly GH¢ 12,000.00 that was allocated to the Constituency office for two years when the NDC was in power.”

He also accused the Constituency Secretary for allegedly taking the party’s computer for himself, justifying that his predecessor similarly took away a computer tablet belonging to the party and now it is his turn to benefit.

He said during the campaigns for the 2016 elections, the Chairman allegedly raised funds from GPHA and other institutions without the knowledge of the Constituency Treasurer and other members of the Executive Committee.

“Recently, former President Mahama is said to have donated GH¢ 7,000.00 to the Constituency for the purpose of refreshing delegates after a meeting with them and also supporting the party. The Chairman, acting together with the Organizer and Secretary have pocketed the money, refusing to even refresh the delegates after the meeting.

“They are not willing to give accounts for a whole lot of things that they have not accounted for and I am demanding that they do and so.”

Moshake alleged that few executives attempted to disallow him from voting in the NDC’s National Executives election at Trade Fair, but was countered by the National Electoral Committee of the party which said the suspension made no sense.

He said Members of the Committee, including Lawyer Abraham Amaliba and Mr. Kofi Attoh dismissed the attempt by the executives and compelled the Electoral Committee members to accredit him.

He said the resistance against his voting right as an executive of the party also led to the arrest of the Tema East Constituency Organizer, Clement Kofigah.

He said since the petition was filed almost a month ago, the Greater Accra regional Chairman hesitated on it leading to his threat to court to demand an injunction on the congress so that the NDC would be forced to do the right thing.

Meanwhile, when the Ghana News Agency contacted Alhaji Mahama Bulisah, Constituency chairman he denied the claims of Mr Adjei, explaining that his suspension was carried out after ignoring consistent cautions.

He said the Party was not against his declaration to support Mr Bagbin, but was against his claims in most of the write-ups that all the constituency executive members were supporting one candidate.

On the allegation of monies, the chairman said it was the Treasurer that was keeping their books and it was unfortunate that allegations were directed at him.

Mr Seidu Abudulai, Constituency Secretary also told the GNA that he had reported to the Police on the missing computer and denied that he had taken it home.

He wondered why Moshake would go ahead to petition the Regional Chairman of the Party if he did not receive a copy of the suspension.

Mr Abudulai said his case had been referred to the disciplinary committee of the party and he would soon be called for redress.
