Crash MountainThe truck somersaulted several times after break failure around a curve

A mini truck which was travelling to Kpando from Ho, through the Dzolokpuita-Fume route in the Volta Region has been involved in a serious accident.

The truck, which was reported to be fully loaded with cartons of Heineken beer, crashed last Saturday, December 8, 2018.

Eyewitnesses, who described the incident as life-threatening, narrated that the Kpando bound truck somersaulted on one of the sharp curves after failing its brake when descending the stretch between Biakpa and Fume.

They said the noise from the crash and the position of the truck, which was upside down, alarmed the few onlookers.

To their surprise and delight, they found the driver who was the only occupant alive, while the truck appeared mangled on many sides with broken windscreens and windows.

They described the driver’s escape as a miracle considering the near fatal nature of the accident.

Some residents and users of the road said although the Ho-Fume road is one of the best in the country, the spot is becoming noted for accidents due to its dangerous slopes and curves.

The Motor Transport and Traffic Unit of the Police, who confirmed the accident to DAILY GUIDE, advised drivers to be careful and respect speed limits on that portion, especially first-time users.
