The son of former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama has eulogized former President John Agyekum Kufuor for what he described as his purposive choice of his late father, Alhaji Aliu Mahama as his Vice President for his two-terms in government.
Former President Kufuor served as the second President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana (2001–09) on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) alongside Alhaji Aliu Mahama as his Vice.
In a statement commemorating his 80th birthday, Farouk said the Aliu Mahama’s’ wish him happiness and blessings on his new age and celebrate his remarkable stewardship to humanity
“I particularly pay a glowing tribute to you for your purposive choice of our late father, H.E Alhaji Aliu Mahama, to partner your presidential ticket which later delivered the first electoral victory of the NPP in the Fourth Republic and the second of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition”
Cataloging a number of achievements chalked under his watch he said “The Kufuor/Aliu administration that was formed thereafter offered a selfless service to the good people of Ghana that brought socio-economic transformation to the political history of Ghana at a period where the nation’s economy was on a breakdown. Your contribution to the development of the Republic of Ghana will forever stand tall and projects you as a Statesmen’s Statesman. On this happy occasion of your 80th Birthday, we can only pray to Allah to grant you more years and every blessing for us to continue to tap into your rich vault of wisdom, knowledge, and experience. Happy Birthday President John Agyekum Kufuor. May your legacy live on”
